Aïcha Awa BA
Founder and Executive Director

Aicha Awa Ba is an expert in feminist programming, education, and child protection, and the Founder and Executive Director of Bantare Impact Group. With over a decade of experience across Africa, she has led groundbreaking research and multinational programs that have shaped national and regional policies on gender equality, child protection, and social justice.
Holding an MSc in International Development from Birkbeck, University of London, she has served as a Lead Consultant for UNICEF, UNFPA, UNESCO, and Amnesty International. At Bantare, she spearheads research from conception to implementation, including the design of rigorous scientific methodologies. Furthermore, she supports civil society organizations in their advocacy efforts and their work to influence public policy.
Her notable contributions include developing flagship reports and logical frameworks, such as the national training of trainers on Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA), the baseline study on Online Child Protection (OCP) in Senegal, and the Situation Analysis (SitAn) of adolescent girls in Liberia.
Her work combines rigorous research with advocacy for changes in practices and mindsets, championing socio-political systems that prioritize equity, support, and stakeholder accountability. As a researcher, she has published on gender, childhood, and social protection, and is recognized for her ability to translate complex data into concrete reforms. Her ambition is to help redefine development through an inclusive lens that places the community at the center of power dynamics.
